Design Inspiration: Herringbone Brick Floors

I’ve always loved herringbone floors and would like to incorporate them in my home, and brick, like wood floors, evoke a timeless sense of beauty an charm.

The photo above stopped me in my tracks and was the inspiration for this post.  I especially love the contrast of the brick and white cabinetry.

Large spaces can feel uninviting but the texture and color of these bricks evoke an old world and cozy atmosphere.

In the above photo, the clean and precise lines of the brick create a classic and elegant walkway.

The application of bricks in interior spaces is typically in the form of pavers or tile, making transitions easy from other materials such as wood floors, tile, and carpet.  They also place a lower weight load on the subfloor.

I would add beautiful lounge furniture and enjoy this patio for hours on end.  Just look at that lush landscape!

The natural variations in color and mix of materials, brick and wood, in this room give it warmth and character.

I really love the whitewashed brick in this white kitchen.  The color of the bricks and level appearance keep the kitchen from appearing overly rustic.

One of the downfalls of brick is it can become unforgiving if standing for hours.  A cushioned rug is recommended to ease the strain on your legs, back, and feet.

What are your thoughts on using brick flooring?

xoxo, B
