Always a favorite, Giambattista Valli, whose Spring Couture show was magical and with a touch of edginess. Valli was inspired by Coco Chanel’s 1930s menswear silhouettes paired with Janis Joplin’s hippie vibe, bell bottoms and layered cocktail dresses over trousers. “I love the idea of ‘impossible conversations,’ ” explained Valli, believing opposites are compatible and tell a beautiful story.
I especially loved the floral embroideries and appliqués over ivory lace, petal pink tulle and ruffles, and, especially, the romantic ballet skirts.
