Hello & Bon Weekend, Plus Couture Cocktails

There is so much to share… where to start?  First things first… I did it!  I graduated and I’m thrilled the sleepless nights are over and so very excited that I can say I am officially an Interior Designer.  Interior design has been one of my passions for as long as I can remember.  I love everything about it, from the design concept stage to the completion of the project.  It truly does not feel like work when you love what you do.

Now I am embarking on a new endeavor and started a residential interior design business, ‘Atelier d’Haute Design.’  Meetings with accountants, an attorney, and designing a home office has kept me quite busy the past couple of weeks.  Fortunately, my father is a smart business man and has helped me tremendously with his knowledge and connections.  I can’t lie, it’s a bit scary.  It’s one thing when you have professors to answer all of your questions and another when you’re on your own.  I know I can always contact them if needed and that is reassuring.  It’s wonderful to know there are many people willing to help and cheering you on!

This would be my dream view in my home office.  When I dream, I dream big!

There is other big news!  As most of you know, we have two French Bulldogs, Coco and Bogie, and they are the other kids in our family.  We think the sun rises and sets on them.  After following the FBRN on Facebook for quite some time, I felt we could help other Frenchie’s in need but wanted to wait until I graduated.  A few days prior, I received a phone call asking if we could foster this little girl ~

Her name is Lola (FBRN named her Carrae) and we are over the moon in love with her!  She is truly an angel and we are so lucky to be fostering her!  She has had some health issues but the rescue has generously taken care of her needs and continues to do so.  They, too, are angels.  A couple of days ago, our vet complimented them, stating how knowledgeable and organized they are.  I am very proud to be part of this organization as I know each person I have met thus far truly cares about the welfare of these sweet dogs.  I will be giving updates and you can read more about Lola here:

These photos were taken right after she came to us.  You can see where her arms were shaved because of the IV’s… but look at that smile!

Couture Cocktails

Now that summer has arrived, I plan to enjoy a cocktail and relax as much as possible.  This is the perfect cocktail to kick off a summer soirée or divide recipe for amount you will want to make!

Sgroppino Recipe

4 pints lemon sorbet
1 1/2 cups chilled vodka
2 1/4 cups chilled prosecco
3/4 cup limoncello liqueur
simple syrup, but only if needed and to taste

Take the sorbet out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature until it’s soft but not melted, approximately 15-20 minutes.  Scoop the sorbet into a large chilled bowl and pour in your favorite vodka. Briskly whisk the sorbet and vodka together until the mixture is smoothie smooth, and then whisk in the chilled Prosecco.  Taste and adjust the sweetness with simple syrup, if needed. Divide amongst twelve chilled glasses (I like martini glasses) and finish with a little drizzle of Limoncello liqueur, and serve.  Recipe via here.

Wishing you a most beautiful weekend!

xoxo, B
