Today, French pastry king Pierre Hermé celebrates the 7th annual Jour du Macaron. Go to any of Pierre’s ultra chic boutiques in Paris and you will be given a card with a map to each PH boutique. You will be able to choose one macaron in any of the 25 available flavours {a donation is encouraged}.
Pastry chef Fracoise Payard organized the first annual Macaron Day in NYC which coincides annually with the Jour du Macaron in Paris.
The first day of le printemps is one of the most anticipated days for me… the promise of warmer temperatures, blue skies and intoxicating fragrance of blossoms in the air. It’s the day I begin daydreaming of sundresses and platform sandals, picnics in the park and sunset dinners on an open patio.
The warmer temperatures this year has given me an extra spring in my step…

I wish I had seen this post yesterday. I was in a pharmacy that contained a Pierre Hérme boutique on Champs-Elysées (strange mix I know, they also sold books and Marc Jacobs and Chloé handbags). There was a lovely French lady with a handful of brochures trying to explain something to me about macarons, but I was feeling sick and didn't have the energy to try to understand her. It's a pity, that little map would have made a very nice souvenir. I'm planning on having a Ladurée vs Pierre Hermé taste test when I'm feeling better.
