Bon weekend! La Vie en Rose, translating to “bed of roses,” inspired this post of one of my favourite things ~ a rose. I love the smell, colour, and flavour of this delicate flower. While I pretty much admire all roses, I favor the pink shades most.
The soft, romantic, classically feminine colour is on my radar for fall. It’s a pleasant departure from the brilliant autumn hues that will be everywhere. The colour instantly lifts my spirits and I feel it complements my pale skin more than bold, darker shades.

Couture Cocktails
I love the name of this cocktail ~ The Giggly Rose.
Petals of three unsprayed roses, plus 6 small unsprayed roses to garnish
3 shots (90 ml) of gin
1/4 cup (60 ml) lemon juice
750ml bottle sparkling wine, chilled
One bunch of mint leaves
Ice cubes, to serve
Ice cubes, to serve
Rose Syrup
150g caster sugar
1 Tbl rosewater
For the syrup, place sugar and 100ml water in a pan over medium-high heat. Bring to the boil, stirring to dissolve sugar, then remove from heat. Stir in rosewater, then chill until it has cooled completely.
Instructions:
Gently bruise the mint leaves and rose petals in your hands to release their aroma, then place into six chilled glasses.
In 2 batches, divide gin, lemon juice, rose syrup and plenty of ice in a cocktail shaker.
Shake well, then divide into the glasses and top with sparkling wine.
Add rose to garnish, then serve immediately ~ straw optional.
