Le Jour du Macaron ~

Lifestyle & Musings

Today is the fifth annual celebration of Jour du Macaron in France.  Macaron Day was begun in 1995 by famous pâtissier Pierre Hermé.

Angelic Macaron
Just because you won’t be celebrating Le Jour du Macaron in France today, it does not mean you can’t dream up your own special soirée.  Not only is this a day to celebrate this delightful pleasure, it’s a day to contribute funds and awareness to La Federation des Maladies Orphelines ~ a charitable organization to support research funding for rare illnesses.

I will be visiting my favourite french restaurant!  The lovely Anita from Castles, Crowns and Carriages informed me that the french macarons from Trader Joe’s are divine ~ merci, Anita!

Au Revoir!  xoxo, B

My first macaron was in NYC at La Maison du Chocolat and it was heaven! I had no idea what they would be like. Just amazing! Glad they devote a day to them in Paris!!

Last night, I had my first attempt at making macaron shells; they turned out well enough, but are not perfect. I'll make rose pastry cream to fill them later this morning, and will also try a different recipe, one for olive oil/vanilla macarons. That is my favorite flavor from Pierre Herme.

I don't know of any place at all in my area that sells macarons, so to indulge, I'm having to teach myself to make them.

    Bonjour,
Leave it to the French to devote a day to something sweet. But definitely for a good cause.
Hope your first day of Spring is fabulous,
    Mimi
