Jour du Macaron 2011

Today is the 6th annual “Jour du Macaron” (Macaron Day) in France ~ an annual celebration of the delicate meringue confections that come in a rainbow of colours and fillings.
Pierre Hermé, who launched this event in 2005, will be offering free macarons in his Paris stores as will other participating members of the Relais Desserts association, which represents the top pastry chefs in the world.  The other pastry shops in Paris taking part include Sadaharu Aoki, Laurent Duchêne, Jean-Paul Hévin and Arnaud Larher.
The event is also a wonderful opportunity to support Autour des Williams, a charity that funds research into rare diseases and provides assistance to those afflicted by Williams-Beuren syndrome. Donations will be accepted in each participating shop.
Macaron lovers in the U.S. can check out the official Macaron Day New York 2011 website  for details
